Lyrics:
Went down to the river I got down on my knees She said “honey quit your talking and listen to me" "I am the mother of this land, it’s on secrets that I stand" Woah Won’t you come down, come down Oh, she’s calling Come down, come down Oh, she’s singing Come down, come down Oh, it’s in darkness we’re living Shine the light Oh and let the truth be spoken So I followed along, along the water And I heard all the stories of the sons and the daughters She said "time and time the seasons come, bullets keep on leaving guns" "Sun does shine and the bees all hum, when you gonna learn that we’re all one" Won’t you come down, come down Oh, she’s calling Come down, come down Oh, she’s singing Come down, come down Oh, it’s in darkness we’re living Shine the light Oh and let the truth be spoken Won’t you come down, come down Come down, come down Come down, come down Come down, come down Won’t you come down, come down Come down, come down Oh, hear her singing Come down, come down Oh it's in darkness we’re living Come down, come down Come down, come down Oh, hear her calling Come down, come down Oh, hear her singing Come down, come down Oh, it's in darkness we're living Shine the light Oh and let the truth be spoken
“Shine the light and let the truth be spoken”
Female rocker, Madison Galloway (ON, Canada), releases her second single off her upcoming album set to release Spring 2023.
Despite her young age of 22, she’s already making her mark on the Canadian Music scene. With hundreds of shows under her belt, including prominent festivals (Kitchener Blues Fest, Riverfest Elora, Mariposa Folk Festival), she’s now working on her second full-length album. Her first release off of the new record has received great recognition both in press and across the DSP’s, including playlist adds to Spotify’s “Modern Blues Rock” and Joe Bonnamassa’s “Cutting Edge Blues” and was named Top 10 Best Rock Song by the World Songwriter Awards.
The fresh roots-rock tune depicts one being beckoned down to the River to learn about the past in hopes to form a better future. The River’s been there through it all - she knows everyone’s story and has seen every war. The River asks “When you gonna learn that we’re all one?” She’s telling the stories and she’s calling for peace.
